LanoTech is trialling lanolin, the natural grease in sheep wool, as an alternative ingredient to soy and palm oil in animal feed.

Featured on BBC Farming Today and winner of nationwide Rural Start Up of the Year 2025.

We aim to halve the feed industry's reliance on environmentally-damaging oils by utilising a low-value, domestically available resource: British wool.

So far we've discovered that lanolin has higher energy content and stability than conventional feed oils, with comparable digestability. See News.

Our motivation is to build a circular economy that reduces agriculture's carbon footprint, and boost farmers incomes by improving the value of wool.
